Alexa Ray Joel, daughter of singer Billy Joel and supermodel Christie Brinkley was hospitalized on saturday after downing a handful of pills in an attempt at suicide.

Alexa’s roommate called the 911 shortly after Joel downed the pills citing breathing troubles and emotional disturbance.

However, once rushed to the hospital, Alexa was joined by only her mother Christie, not her father Billy who claimed that the hospital would have become a “circus atmosphere” and he was in “constant phone contact” with his daughter.  That still doesn’t make up for him not showing up to visit his own daughter after she tried to take her own life!  What a supportive father…

The good news is that according to Billy, Alexa is “going to be fine” and was “never in any danger” because she arrived at the hospital in time.
